Session Poetry

History 101

I pour another and another

and brood on the bloody brilliance

of mankind

breaking and beating and butchering

his way to the top of the food chain

and then repeat,

but never learning a damn thing

as he looks down the barrel

of another gun

in another time in another place,

perplexed as to how and why he

suffers so.

So I pour another and another

and resolve to never repeat

my mistakes.
